Our objectives are:
- To provide assistance to victims of family violence;
- To reduce the incidence of violence and abuse in communities through education and advocacy;
- To increase the recognition of the problem of violence and abuse in communities through community education and advocacy;
- To facilitate long term solutions to violence and abuse in communities.
FVPLS Victoria is an Aboriginal community controlled organisation established in 2002 to provide assistance to victims/survivors of family violence and sexual assault and to work with families and communities affected by violence.
We provide free legal advice, referrals, ongoing casework and court representation, and assist in the following areas:
- Intervention orders;
- Family Law;
- Child Protection;
- Victims' compensation;
- Other legal problems arising from family violence.
FVPLS Victoria also engages in community legal education and community development activities, as well as policy and law reform directed towards systemic change.
We are funded through a range of sources including the Commonwealth Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Victoria Legal Aid, Department of Justice Victoria and Department of Human Services Victoria. We also receive project grants from various other private and public funding sources.

FVPLS Victoria is a state-wide organisation with a head office in metropolitan Melbourne and three regional offices. FVPLS Victoria will provide both telephone and face to face legal advice to victims/survivors of family violence and sexual assault. Counselling is also available in all locations.
