CAMPAIGN EVENTS

The Standing Firm Campaign aims to inspire Koori communities and community workers to take action against family violence. Our community legal education team will be running events across Victoria to promote the campaign and help communities to understand the impacts of family violence. We call on individuals to take at least one preventive action to stand firm against family violence.

If you have any questions about the campaign, give us a call on 1800 105 303 and talk to our community legal education workers (CLE team).

Not 1 More - White Ribbon Day Event

On Friday 25th November 2011 FVPLS Victoria joined a range of community participants and agencies to support the White Ribbon Campaign, and to say "Not one more victim of family violence". Our staff and campaign supporters were highly visible in our purple Standing Firm dresses during the Walk against Family Violence and many campaign materials were distributed from our marquee at Federation Square -including to Melbourne Storm players who proudly wore our stickers when pledging to never commit family violence.

The Federation Square Not 1 More event featured a range of performers and speakers that provided reflection on those impacted by family violence, including a presentation by our Policy and Development Unit manger, Jacqui Katona. In her speech Jacqui highlighted the disproportionate extent that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and children are affected by high rates of family violence and encouraged individuals and agencies to take action by joining us in our Standing Firm against Family Violence campaign. The event also featured our Standing Firm DVD on the large screen at Federation Square.
